I am told that it is statistically proven that people are likely to donate the week before the marathon, so here goes the final push!

It is now 7 days until the London Marathon.  Over the past 14 weeks I have run 507.59 miles in total and and taken part in The Longleat 10k and The Bath Half Marathon.

The Longleat 10k took place on Sunday 9th February and is a firm favourite amongst South West runners and many who come from much further afield to enjoy a run around the beautiful Estate. The famous Lions Head Medal makes the challenge of ‘The Hill’ up to Horningsham Village and the long drop down from the Bath Arms along Lodge Drive towards Longleat House all worthwhile.  Starting at the bottom of Lodge Drive facing the House you complete a 3km loop that takes you up the infamous hill and then back through the start down Lodge drive. The second loop takes you past the maze and caravan park before returning to the opening lap and back up the hill to Horningsham again before finishing down hill from the Bath Arms along Lodge Drive with the amazing Longleat House in front of you.

The 2014 Bath Half marathon took place on Sunday 2 March. Runners and spectators confounded the damp weather to fill and line the streets with record attendances. Despite the cold and drizzly weather, over 12,000 runners pounded the streets of Bath with over 30,000 people supporting the 11,300 runners taking part in the BATHALF and the 1,000 runners who took part in the family fun run. The Bath Half Marathon – or the ‘Bath Half’ as it is affectionately known, is one of the longest established and most popular city centre road events in the UK. It is also the largest charity fundraising event in the South West region, raising over £1.5 million for charity last year alone. The course itself is fast and flat making it suitable for all abilities – for beginners whose key objective is to complete the course, to more regular long-distance event runners, looking to beat their personal best time. It covers a two lap 13.1 mile (21.1km) traffic-free course straddling both sides of the River Avon. The race starts and finishes in Great Pulteney Street, in the heart of the World Heritage City of Bath.

The aim is to raise as much money for the World Cancer Research Fund (#WCRF) as I possibly can. There were an estimated 12.6 million cancer cases in the world in 2008, of these 6.6 million were in men and 6 million in women.  This is estimated to rise to 21 million by 2030. The WCRF is dedicated to the prevention and control of cancer: stopping cancer before it starts!

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to the charity. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on the charity’s behalf where the donor is eligible for this.

I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations. The link to my fundraising page is set out below.
